Afro Fusion Dance Workshop with Hermes Iyele
This workshop is aimed at professionals, dance students and those already engaged in dance. A contemporary Afro fusion dance class exploring instant composition and improvisation (with contact).
Hermes Iyele is a choreographer, dancer, actor, model and basketball player based in Lagos, Nigeria. His collaborative works include MORTUARY CROSSROADS (danceGATHERING 2019, Nigeria), Body and Memory (danceGATHERING 2019, Nigeria) and Yuropa! (2018 in Germany, 2019 in Mali).
As a mentee of renowned choreographer Qudus Oniekeku, Iyele trained at Q Dance Center in Lagos, and since its inception regularly performs in their productions including RAINMAKERS (TEDGlobal, Tanzania, 2017)in Arusha, Tanzania with QTribe.

Hermes performed an extract of his latest work PATH as part of Project X-Change at DiG on Tues 15 th October 2019. PATH is a journey of/to self-discovery, reinventing what is from what was. Hermes is questioning history, religion and beliefs while focusing on his Orisha. Deconstructing the old to form a new, on this journey there are three steps: The Beginning, The Questioning and Rebirth.
