Jen Wren

Jen Wren is a creative dance artist, teacher and physical therapist with a practice rooted in body, energy and communication.

Artistic Director of Slanjayvah Danza, and creative collaborator with other artists/organisations; at the heart of Jena's artistry is the exploration of traditional, interdisciplinary and intercultural arts through a contemporary lens.

Her creations and relationships are grounded in artistic, human, heritage or scientific concepts and draw on stories, to create art that resonates across cultures and generations.

Latest work, 6 Feet, 3 Shoes received accolades, sell-out laurels and top 5 dance show status from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, nominated for the Total Theatre Dance Award. 6F3S is part of the RTDI and funded for UK touring by ACE and Creative Scotland's touring fund portfolio.

Jen has worked across the UK and internationally (America, Qatar, Pais Vasco and Spain) with a variety of leading cultural partners, artists and institutions. Her digital work has been screened at film festivals such as: Dance Film Scotland, Virgin Media Shorts, Erotica and Underwired.

Dedicated to the development of the arts sector Jen sit on a range of boards, has been part of the FST Key Working discussion group and the Artists Advisory Group with Dance Base. She is also a 'body mechanic' specialising in prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of Dance and sports injury.
